Assassin’s Creed Mirage – More Details on Gameplay

At last week’s Ubisoft Forward showcase, Ubisoft revealed a new gameplay breakdown trailer for upcoming title Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This deep dive gives us a closer look at what we can expect when the game releases on October 12 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Creative Director Stéphane Boudon and Art Director Jean-Luc Sala broke down all the new gameplay shown, calling protagonist Basim a “glass cannon” (someone capable of dealing, but not taking, heavy damage). It will be interesting to see how this makes the character feel during combat scenarios.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set in ninth-century Baghdad, where we join Basim decades before we meet him in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Haunted by nightmares of a mysterious jinni, Basim joins the Hidden Ones and begins his new life as a recruit. This is the first step on his long journey to becoming a master assassin. The gameplay highlights all the ways he can escape danger and avoid conflict thanks to new upgradeable and customisable stealth tools like blowdarts, throwing knives, traps, and more. Plus, Ubisoft revealed more details on the stylish and powerful new Assassin’s Focus, an ability that lets Basim take out up to four enemies in rapid succession.

Mirage is a more condensed experience than recent games in the franchise and places its emphasis back on stealth gameplay. As Basim, you’ll have to utilise his complete toolset to infiltrate strongholds in the return of Black Box missions. These are large-scale assassination missions that can be carried out in multiple ways. There are also new escape mechanics like collapsible scaffolding and pole vaults to make your getaway. I am still making my way through Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but I am especially looking forward to jumping into Assassin’s Creed Mirage when it launches on October 12.

Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is available for pre-order on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One and Series X/S, as well as on Windows PC through the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store. Players can also subscribe to Ubisoft+ to access the game at launch. Eager gamers who pre-order Assassin’s Creed: Mirage will receive an exclusive bonus quest at launch called The Forty Thieves, where players will uncover the mysteries of Ali Baba’s legendary cave.
