QuakeCon Staying Digital in 2022

Early this morning, Bethesda confirmed that this year’s QuakeCon event will be another digital show for the third year running. This year’s show will be held online on August 18-20, 2022, with plans that next year they can return to physical glory in Dallas, Texas.

“Like you, we’re disappointed to not return to Dallas this year. An event of this size requires months of planning, and in this case, we had to make decisions when there was still too much uncertainty to commit to successfully executing an in-person QuakeCon.”

“The QuakeCon team is already working hard to put together exciting news streaming programming, online meetups, giveaways, charity opportunities, the virtual BYOC, and more, and we will announce more details in June.”

Last year’s online QuakeCon event had some awesome announcements like a deep-dive exploration of DEATHLOOP’s PvP mode from Arkane Lyon and we were given insider info on Fallout 76’s Fallout Worlds update. The biggest surprise of last year’s show though was celebrating 25 years of Quake with the re-release of the original Quake featuring cross-play, four-player co-op, multiplayer with up to eight players, enhanced visuals and more.

The legends at Bethesda ANZ sent me a package to keep me warm whilst watching last year’s show, and the beanie has started joining me on my morning walks. I look forward to hearing more about QuakeCon 2022 in June and hopefully some new information about Starfield. What would you like to see shown this year? Let us know in the comments below.
