Chris InglisFocus Entertainment and Tindalos Interactive, in collaboration with 20th Century Games, recently announced that pre-orders are open for Aliens: Dark Descent and graced us with a damn cool new trailer. The strategic, real-time, squad-based tactical action game set in the iconic Alien franchise will be released on June 20 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Players should arm themselves and be ready for an original Alien story with strategic, real-time squad-based tactical action gameplay.
In Aliens: Dark Descent, the horrors and wonders of an authentic Alien story unfold through a cinematic campaign full of sinister secrets, iconic Xenomorphs and brand-new threats. A range of tactical abilities come into play as you recruit, level up and command a squad of Colonial Marines in real-time and as one unit with intuitive controls on both keyboard/mouse and controller. Any command issued over comms is swiftly obeyed by the Marine best-equipped for the situation, according to their abilities and equipment. Players will need to use their wits to navigate expansive, persistent and reactive levels. However, each Marine’s vitals should be monitored cautiously — for death is permanent.
Perma-death isn’t uncommon in these tactical strategy games, and I still lament the loss of heroes from games like XCOM 2 and the more recent Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters. We will be able to customize our squad with a selection of different classes and level up and specialise our soldiers with unique abilities and an arsenal of weapons, armor, and perks, for high stakes missions in treacherous territory. Develop your base to research new tech and improve your squad even further.
