There is nothing quite like watching your kids’ eyes light up when a story they love leaps off the page. If you’ve spent any time reading the rhyming, chaotic classics to your little ones at bedtime, you know exactly how infectious the energy of Dr. Seuss can be. Soon, we’ll be able to bring that exact brand of living-room-wrecking fun to our consoles. Outright Games, in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, has officially announced The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem. It’s a brand-new, four-player local multiplayer party game heading to practically every major platform just in time for the cozy fall season on October 30, 2026.
For parents looking to share their childhood nostalgia with a new generation of gamers, this one looks like it hits all the right notes. Instead of just watching the madness unfold, families can jump directly into the shoes of Sally, Johnny, Thing 1 & Thing 2, and even Little Cat A. Meanwhile, the ever-mischievous Cat himself and the perpetually stressed-out Fish will be guiding the digital chaos.
“Rainy Day Mayhem captures the spirit of fun, mischief, and imagination that has made this story a classic for generations, and we can’t wait for kids and families to jump in and experience it together!” — Robin Flodin, CEO of Outright Games Group

Outright Games has a solid track record of delivering accessible, family-focused titles, and they are leaning heavily into bite-sized, cooperative fun for this package. The game drops players into a transformed, digital version of the iconic house with two core modes:
-
‘Find the Cat’: A fast-paced, house-wide game of hide-and-seek where you race to track down the elusive Cat in the Hat.
-
18 Wild Minigames: A collection of short, frantic challenges that range from chasing down runaway penguins to decorating massive, unstable cakes.
For those of us playing with younger kids, the developers are emphasising accessibility and scalable difficulty. With simple controls and options for both short bursts and longer gameplay sessions, it’s designed to let younger siblings join in without the frustration of complex mechanics, while still keeping things engaging for older players. The unpredictable nature of the minigames means no two sessions should play out exactly the same way — capturing that exact up-to-no-good energy first penned back in 1957.

The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem launches October 30th, 2026, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Xbox Series, and PC.
