G-Tek Replicator 7 Key Wired Gaming Mouse Review

The G-Tek Replicator 7 Key Wired Gaming Mouse impressed me a lot. It seems too cheaply priced at $49 so I wasn’t expecting much when I opened the box, however the feel and performance has been fantastic. It may feature less max DPI and less buttons, but the 7 buttons are all I needed, and the RGB just has the one setting that is toggleable on or off, and really that’s all I want the RGB to do for my purposes.

I have had my current mouse for at least seven years and the reason I haven’t changed from is it it’s perfect for what I need. When the opportunity came to review this new mouse from G-Tek, I thought it was a good chance to see what else was out there. Having used this mouse for a week now in both a gaming and office work sense, I would be happy to keep using this daily. This is a wired only mouse which is perfect for me as I prefer wired devices.

The overall feel of the G-Tek Replicator 7 Key mouse fit well in my large hand. The two buttons on the left side of the mouse are easily used with a slight shift of my thumb, and the textures on either side helped the mouse feel secure. There were a few times where I clicked the browse back button accidentally. However, I put this down to my large thumb and perhaps the sensitivity of these mechanical switch buttons. The only other negative about these side buttons is they are suited more for a right-handed person. The buttons aren’t programmable but that’s a feature I personally do not use on other mice anyway.

The gaming grade sensor performed extremely well, and a button on top of the mouse adjusts the speed and DPI output, to a max of 8000 DPI. Each DPI setting has a corresponding RPG colour when using the top buttons cycling from red at 500 DPI, blue 1000, green 1500, yellow 2000, cyan 4000 and purple at 8000 DPI. Pro and esports players may be looking for a mouse that supports higher than 8000 DPI, so it comes down to whether this meets your personal usage requirements, but it was great for me as I preferred using this mouse at the 4000 DPI setting.

I don’t use a mouse mat and have a smooth desktop, and there were no input performance issues at all. The PTFE feet felt a little different to my old mouse at first use, but I very quickly got used to the glide across the desktop and felt in total control using it in various types of games. After a week of using the mouse for 10+ hours a day of office work and gaming, there was slight wear on these PTFE feet, so I wonder how long these would last until the feet are worn down to the lower surface of the mouse and needing to purchase a new one. Comparatively, my current mouse is seven years old and showing no signs of slowing down. At this low price point though, it wouldn’t be too big a hit to the wallet if you had to replace this one.

Overall, the G-Tek Replicator 7 Key Wired Gaming Mouse suited my gaming and work purposes perfectly and, while lacking some advanced features of other mice, the no-fuss set up and play, and low price point made this an appealing option. While it may underperform for pro and esports gamers, this is a perfectly good option for regular gamers with pleasing aesthetics and great mouse feel.
