Chris InglisThere’s been a surge of survival games lately but one that I have my eye on is Survival: Fountain of Youth by developer Odinsoft and publisher Twin Sails Interactive. Set in the 16th-century Caribbean islands, this single-player game will see an Early Access launch on Steam on April 19, 2023. You are a member of Juan Ponce de Leon’s expedition in search of the Fountain of Youth, based on an actual historic event of the Age of Discovery. After a shipwreck, you must learn to survive on deserted lands: from crafting tools, building shelter to hunting prey and fighting off predators.
Explore the many islands in search for your crewmates, figure out the fate of an extinct ancient civilization and uncover the location of the legendary Fountain of Youth. With the scorching Caribbean heat, the relentless storms, the malaria infested swamps and poisonous plants, the Bimini archipelago is full of hazards to overcome. Crafting, building shelter, improving your skills and exploring the islands in search of resources are key to your survival. Not only will you have to contend with over 30 animal species and their own habitats and behaviors, but you will also deal with the weather, diseases, injuries, hunger, thirst and exhaustion.
You can also sail the seas and travel between island once you build a variety of sea vessels from primitive rafts to the 16th century Spanish schooner. Find your way to open new routes to unknown lands, prepare for the expeditions, and find out what mysteries lay ahead. While finding clues and traces of your shipmates, you will stumble upon remnants of an ancient civilization that perished for an unknown reason.
The Early Access version will debut with two expansive regions, with three additional regions planned for subsequent updates that incorporate new biomes, story quests, and more. Survival: Fountain of Youth boasts a challenging open-world survival adventure that features a captivating storyline that yearns to be unearthed.
