Weird West is a dark fantasy take on the Wild West, in an immersive sim by WolfEye Studios and publisher Devolver Digital. It’s set for release on March 31, 2022 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and I have been playing a preview this week thanks to Power UP PR. From the game’s Steam page:
Journey through the story of a group of atypical heroes, written into legend by the decisions you make in an unforgiving land. Each journey is unique and tailored to the actions taken – a series of high stakes adventures where everything counts and the world reacts to the choices you make. Form a posse or venture forth alone into an otherworldly confines of the Weird West and make each legend your own.
In this first gameplay preview, I play part of the first journey as Jane Bell, an ex-bounty hunter turned farmer, forced back into a life on the road by a devastating attack on her land and family. The dark undertones of the story are present from your first moments in the game, and evidence of supernatural activity is ever present as you explore secondary locations that spawn differently each playthrough. They will feature different terrain types with different names, layouts, and quests, keeping things fresh every time.
Keep checking back as we continuing playing through the other journeys, and we’ll have some initial impressions posted later this week as we head towards release. Weird West will launch on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on March 31, 2022.
